Project Life

It's Jenni Hufford here, and today I am sharing a Project Life spread using various Jenni Bowlin products.

This spread covers the week of April 15-21.   This is the week the Boston Marathon tragedy occurred.  Boston Magazine created an incredible photo for their magazine.  I printed this photo on my printer and included Jenni Bowlin's icon flat backs.

I used various papers from the Modern Mercantile collection.  I especially loved the Hodge Podge paper for Project Life.   The trimmed journaling cards fit perfectly in the Project Life pockets.

The Hear Ye, Hear Ye Days of the Week Banner Stickers are perfect for documenting days of the week in Project Life.  I used one sticker on a blank journaling card.  I also placed a one directly on a photo (on the right page) along with blank banner stickers for extra journaling space.

I have found that Jenni's outline alphabet stamp is one of my favorite alpha stamps for not only layouts, but for Project Life too.  It's perfect for title pockets or for dates.

I hope my Project Life spread shows you a few different ways you can use JBS products in your Project Life pages.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Using JBS for Project Life

Here's the page I made using JBS for my Project Life album documenting my son's birthday back in November. I used a combination of JBS digital and traditional supplies.

I used Jenni's little red circle alpha/number stickers to mark each photo so I could reference the journaling on the cards. Instead of each photo having a corresponding card, the journaling flows from card to card so that I was able to get more journaling on the page.

The first card is simply bordered with JBS washi tape. The second and fourth cards are JBS digital and I printed them on brochure paper. The third card is simply a border line of Jenni's washi again.

I used the 7 hexagon sticker because it was his 7th birthday. I thought the little stamp sticker was a cute, subtle touch. I used a combination of typewritten and handwritten journaling.

I love the first small pocket! I kept it simple and the clock was the perfect finishing touch on the tag. The "journal" card is another JBS digital card. Finally, I made another washi bordered card to balance across from the other washi card.

Thanks for stopping in today!

Card for Mom by May Flaum

May Flaum here, getting started on my Mother's Day cards with the fabulous new paper tapes from JBS.
I love layering strips of tape and then either punching, die cutting, or layering with another piece of paper in some way! I think it is a fun way to use lots of tape and I always love that I can't quite predict the exact outcome since I'll be seeing only part.

Here you can see I put strips of tape onto a piece of cream cardstock, then I took my favorite kraft JBS paper and cut a heart out so that I could layer it over the top of my tape strip paper.

I stitched around the edge (a totally optional step), then used some ink around my edges, used rub-ons for my sentiment, and stamped pieces of this album stamp that I'm loving as well.

Whether alone or together - I sure do love all of my paper tapes!

Project Life Inspiration

This week we'll be sharing some Project Life inspired pages using Jenni Bowlin Studio products.  For this spread, since it was back in March and winter was still lingering, I've chosend a color palette of Jenni's signature red with a little blue and green to cheer up the mostly colorless winter photos.

Products used:  Houndstooth Paper Tape, Jenni Bowlin for Fiskars Flight PunchRed Skinny Alpha Stickers, Black Skinny Alpha StickersCandy Stripe Banner Stickers, Name Date Place Banner Stickers, To Do Banner StickersGeneral Mini Decks, Sentiments Mini Decks, Labels Postage Stamp Stickers, Vintage Flag Printed Tags, Vintage Printed Pockets, vintage receipt paper

Sweet and So Simple

I am having so much fun with Jenni's latest digital release.  Bird & Branch is quite easy to customize and play with to make your own projects that resemble vintage nature art.

The bird icons in the kit are adorable and I played with them and some of the branches to create this card and envelope seal:

supplies:  JBS Bird & Branch digital kit,  Sage Lace Paper Tape, Bazzill cardstock and envelope, font: Lieve Letters, watercolor paper by Peerless Color

The images are quite adaptable to hybrid projects like this card.  I reprinted 2 birds, colored them simply with watercolor, and popped them off the page and added a small embellishment.

Bird & Branch - a Digital Kit for Arbor Day

Today is Arbor Day and we have a great digital release to celebrate our flora and fauna:

You'll get 14 images in two digital formats: png and abr
You can use these as digital stamps, create digital stickers, use them for hybrid projects ... the possibilities are endless.

Amy Kingsford created this beautiful digital page using the images to create a lovely background.  I just love the look of this neutral background and photo with the colorful additions center stage.

Washi Tape as Patterned Paper

Welcome back to another post featuring the fabulous new JBS paper tapes! This week, we'll be showing you all kinds of inspiring and fun ideas for this versatile supply.

While I am often reaching for these tapes to add that "little something extra" to a page, I challenged myself to use them as the main supply on a layout. After cutting two of the JBS Kit Cuts (from the Heart Cards set) from white cardstock, I filled the negative space with strips of paper tape:

The red Double Chevron, blue Notebook Grid, green Sage Lace and gray Sideways Chevron (combined with another yellow tape!) were the perfect touch of color and pattern for my page.

The paper tape was quick and easy  - much faster than cutting strips of patterned paper. I know I'll be using the tapes more often this way on future projects!

Paper Tape Frames

There are so many wonderful ways to use the new Jenni Bowlin Studio paper tapes, and all this week, we will be bringing you even more ideas for how to incorporate them in your projects.
Bleached Woodgrain, Houndstooth,  Sage Lace,
Double Chevron,  Notebook Grid, Sideways Chevron
One of my favorite ways to use the tapes is to mix them with patterned paper strips to create page borders, but I am also a fan of using them to create frames on layouts, as I have done here:
With the Notebook Grid and Sideways Chevron tapes in hand, I tore off four longs strips of each to create two overlapping frames in the center of the layout. Within these frames, I assembled my photos, composed my journaling, and added accents.
I inked the edges of a JBS Dictionary clear stamp (alternating between Spice Tin and Weather Vane inks, with a little red worked in here and there), and created an additional "frame" of sorts around the layout.
I added a few artsy touches in the form of some red and blue ink droplets as well as some stitched and misted hearts. In the midst of all of that color in motion, the frames help to stabilize the design. All in all, there are six "frame" layers in the layout: two paper tape frames, three stitched frames, and one stamped frame.
Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to check back all this week for more ideas for using paper tape.

It's a Party ...

... an Arbor Day Party that is ... and you can find it over at JessicaSprague.com this week April 22-26!

Have you ever wanted to learn how to digi scrap?  Now's the time!  There will be a free mini-class and class sale at the site.  Jessica is a wonderful teacher so you'll want to take advantage of this! There's lots more going on this week too, so make sure to check it out every day!

I love mixing up my layouts and creating traditional paper layouts along with digital layouts. My favorite technique is to combine my computer and digital elements with paper techniques to make a hybrid layout.  It's all pretty easy once you practice and play.  Jessica can certainly get you started!

Here's an 8.5 x 11 digital layout I created in no time!  It was an easy process because I started with a template I found in an article emailed to me in a Get It Scrapped newsletter this weekend.  Take a look at the great article here: > Amy Kingsford creates in 8.5 x 11  from GIS.  In the article, Amy gives 3 great templates to download - and I used one of them for the layout above.

I also used JBS-BabyOfMine and JBS-Varsity digital kits and you can see a surprise peek of a new kit hitting the JBS Digital Shoppe soon!

Have fun creating!

washi layers, banners, and feathers

Happy Sunday all! checking in with some more ideas for using the brand new washi tapes that Jenni recently released! I decided that when I started this project I wanted to focus on how versatile washi is - and I think I accomplished my goal.

I started by layering this tape as an anchor or base for my design. And this one along the edges to give it a pop of color. I combined one more into the mix to create the washi banner pieces.

I used a number of the lovely Jenni Bowlin fiskars punches in different places throughout this layout, too.

My last use of the washi tape comes in the form of these feathers - I laid a bunch of the tapes down on a piece of cardstock and cut feathers using one of the exclusive silhouette cuts from a JBS Mercantile kit.

I hope I've given you a few ideas to spark your creativity this weekend!

Interactive layouts with paper tapes

It's no secret that I love Washi tape so I was thrilled to get my hands on Jenni's new tapes! I have used tapes in a variety of ways on my scrapbook pages in the past and for this layout I wanted to try something I've not done before. I used bits and pieces from the April kits to create my "interactive" page.

I used the bleached woodgrain and double chevron Paper Tapes to attach the top sides of some pieces of patterned paper to my layout. I used the tape to create "hinges" so that the paper would be able to flip up and I could include my journaling/notes under the flaps. I did the same with the photo, so that it matched the page, although that piece does not flip up. I also created little tabs in the shape of banners with the tape to be used as taps to lift the flaps.

So that my page was balanced I used three strips of each tape around my page. I added a third tape, the sideways chevron, also three times to create more tabs and decoration.

Do you like to think of fun ways to use your tapes? I'd love to hear your ideas!

Have a great weekend :)
